The Ultimate Coaching Trifecta: Courses, Live Training, and Community

How Combining These Three Elements Can Transform Your Coaching Business

If you’re a coach or health expert, you may have wondered: “Should I add courses to my programs?” Many of us in the health coaching space focus primarily on live sessions, and there’s real magic in live, interactive coaching. But adding recorded courses can be a game-changer in building a scalable, flexible program that serves clients at any time.

Today, I want to break down a model I believe in deeply: a powerful trifecta of elements for coaching success. These three core elements can make your coaching offer irresistible and accessible. So let’s get into it!

1. Recorded Courses: Flexible Learning Anytime

The first part of this trifecta is recorded courses. Think of these as a foundation for your coaching program. Courses allow clients to learn at their own pace, even in the middle of the night or when they’re on the go. Here’s why recorded courses are so effective:

  • They’re Always Available: Life doesn’t always fit neatly into schedules. A client may want to learn about diet, fitness, or a skill you teach at any time. With recorded courses, they don’t have to wait for a live session to dive in.

  • They Serve as a Resource Library: Recorded content acts like a personal library for your clients. They can revisit lessons, brush up on skills, and catch up on missed topics without relying solely on live sessions.

  • They Complement Live Training: Your live sessions become richer when clients have the option to prepare in advance or review what they’ve learned afterward. You can assign specific modules for them to watch between sessions, keeping them engaged and active in their learning journey.

Courses are the backbone of the trifecta, allowing clients to stay connected with your teachings and learn when it suits them.

2. Live Training: Real-Time Interaction and Q&A

Nothing beats the energy of live training. Live sessions bring the personal connection and interactivity that recorded courses can’t. Within this live element, there are a few formats I like to recommend:

  • Skill-Based Sessions: Let’s say every Tuesday, you hold a live session focused on a specific skill or topic. If you’re a health coach, this might involve showing clients how to plan meals, calculate calorie intake, or perfect exercise techniques. Live skill-building gives clients a hands-on learning experience.

  • Q&A and Inner Circle Calls: These are my favorites. In these calls, you can update clients on new resources, revisit the community’s goals, and answer specific questions. This is also a great time to bring in special guest experts or dive into particular topics. I call these “Inner Circle” calls because they give clients direct access to the heart of the community and their coach.

  • Implementation and Workshop Days: If you’re offering high-ticket programs, holding a monthly implementation day or workshop can make a big difference. Clients have the chance to work with you on their progress, get real-time feedback, and implement what they’ve learned in a supportive setting. It’s hands-on learning with accountability.

Why Live Training Needs Support

Live training is fantastic, but it has limits. You might not be available to go live every single day or might need to take breaks due to travel, health, or other commitments. That’s where recorded courses come in as support. They fill in the gaps, allowing clients to keep learning even when you’re not available.

When live and recorded elements work together, you have a full learning experience that keeps clients engaged and supported. You can even turn past live sessions into recorded resources for clients to revisit. It’s all about creating a resource that is valuable and accessible anytime.

3. Community: A Space to Connect and Grow Together

The third essential part of the coaching trifecta is community. A thriving community adds depth to any coaching program, providing clients with a place to share their journeys, motivate each other, and build connections. Here’s how community benefits your program:

  • Fosters Connection: Community creates bonds between clients who might otherwise feel isolated on their wellness journey. When people share experiences and support each other, they feel a sense of belonging.

  • Encourages Engagement: Active communities use systems like badges, points, leaderboards, or even gamification to keep people involved. You can set up fun challenges, monthly goals, or recognition awards to motivate clients to stay engaged and invested.

  • Provides Peer Support: Clients can answer each other’s questions, share tips, and offer encouragement. It reduces the pressure on you as the coach to be the only source of support and keeps the community spirit alive.

When your coaching program includes a community aspect, it transforms from a solo learning experience into a shared journey. Clients benefit from the power of group motivation, and the overall experience becomes richer.

Building a Coaching Ecosystem with the Three Cs

By combining Courses, Coaching (Live Training), and Community, you’re creating an ecosystem where clients have everything they need. This trifecta addresses different learning styles, time preferences, and support systems that clients seek. Here’s how these elements fit together in an ideal coaching setup:

  1. Courses for Anytime Learning: Clients access foundational knowledge whenever they want, keeping them engaged and informed.

  2. Live Training for Personal Connection: Real-time sessions give clients the direct interaction they crave, while also adding structure and motivation.

  3. Community for Continuous Support: Clients connect with each other, share insights, and feel part of something bigger, enhancing their commitment and enjoyment.

Each piece of this puzzle works in sync to create a robust program that clients can rely on.

Making Your Offer Irresistible with Value Stacking

An effective coaching program isn’t just about combining these elements; it’s also about how you present them. This is where value stacking comes in. Value stacking is the art of packaging these elements to make your offer irresistible.

When presenting your program, highlight how each component adds unique value:

  • Courses give clients control over their learning.

  • Live Training brings personal access and accountability.

  • Community gives them a team, a support system, and a network.

Framing your offer in this way helps clients understand the value they’re getting, making it easy for them to say yes.

Ready to Transform Your Coaching Offer?

If you’re a health coach or a service provider, consider implementing these three elements to elevate your coaching offer. This trifecta gives your clients the flexibility to learn at their own pace, the motivation to show up live, and the support to grow alongside others.

Next time, we’ll dive deeper into value stacking—how to craft an offer that’s impossible to refuse by highlighting each component’s unique benefits. But for now, focus on building a well-rounded program that includes Courses, Live Training, and Community. This approach will set you apart from others and help you create a sustainable, high-quality coaching business.
